Band-aid usage

Band-aid is one of the most commonly used surgical drugs in people's lives.Band-aids, also known as "hemostatic plaster", are used for hemostasis and protection. It consists of a long piece of adhesive tape with a small piece of medicated yarn in the middle.

Due to the limitation of its structure, band-aids can only be used for emergency treatment of small pieces of trauma, thus playing a temporary role in hemostasis and wound protection. However, it should not be used for too long.If you use it too long, the tape around the band-aid will not breathe. It whitens and softens the skin around the wound and leads to a secondary infection of the bacteria. This will make the wound worse. But be careful to replace it once it's wet, or bacteria can easily get into the wound and make it worse.

Notes on the use of band-Aids

Band-aids have become a household necessity nowadays, but not everyone knows how to use them properly. The band-aid itself has no anti-inflammatory effect, but its main function is to absorb exudate and keep the wound dry. Patients should pay attention to the following aspects when using band-aids after the occurrence of trauma.

First, the wound should be no longer than the width of the band-aid.Band-aid is mainly used for hemostasis of acute small wound, especially suitable for neat incision, clean, superficial, small and do not need suture cutting wound. For deep wounds, injuries to large blood vessels, nerves and tendons, and suspected foreign bodies, do not use a band-aid.For boils, burns, suppurative infections and various skin diseases, band-aids should not be used.

Second, the wound should be disinfected first.Check the wound carefully for dirt before using the band-aid.If there is any unclean material, the wound should be cleaned and dried with normal saline, coated with iodine glycerin, and then bandaged. If the wound is cut by rust, tetanus antitoxin should be injected first, and the bandage should be applied with a little pressure to prevent bleeding.

Third, pay attention to wound protection. After the wound is bandaged, the patient should pay attention to protect the wound and avoid active bleeding. In other words, the wound should be less active and do not touch water to avoid pollution.Do not often use the hand to pinch the wound, strictly prevent the squeeze wound, to avoid the wound opening.

Finally, watch for changes in the wound."After using the bandage, it is important to observe the change of the wound and replace it regularly to prevent the wound from becoming infected and festering. If the wound becomes more painful or secretions leak out 24 hours after the bandage is applied, open it for examination in time;If there is redness, swelling, exudation and other infection in the wound, stop using the band-aid and go to the hospital for treatment immediately.
